SCREEN – history and association to other cultures

Screen printing is said to have started in about the 20th century. Since the beginning of this century, screen printing has been used in France, in the world of haute couture, for special fabrics. Often this was used together with other techniques like spraying dyes through stencils to create extraordinary unique patterns.

It is hard to trace the exact journey of the development of the present form of screen. But there are different points of history of different countries and cultures that mentions it. In India, there is documentation to prove that in Jetpur, Gujarat the first screen printing establishments have existed since 1947-48.
